The ‘Active 4 Life’ Programme will give children in the Early Years Foundation Stage an opportunity to develop good physical literacy skills. The programme will also provide knowledge and support to EYFS practitioners and settings.
We recognise that without the basic movement skills, primary school children are easily excluded from participation in many activities and find their enjoyment compromised. We acknowledge the importance of developing physical activity habits and basic movement skills in early childhood as the foundation for lifelong participation.
The Active 4 Life programme was developed with the aim to give children in the EYFS the very best start to their physical development. It is written in line with the EYFS framework and covers physical development, creative development and personal, social and emotional development. The high quality programme promotes the need for young children to be able to move and explore the quality of their body movements within a safe yet challenging environment.
Our qualified, experienced staff will support children to become skilful, knowledgeable and expressive movers. They will inspire and support children to develop a movement foundation and an understanding of basic movement competence. This will be delivered through our movement framework that consists of 4 key areas.
Active 4 Life is a fun, clearly structured programme that helps children learn through enjoyment and interaction. We ensure that children are given planned and appropriate experiences and they are given every opportunity to discover how their bodies move and function.
