Don’t panic!

The Aspire Activity Hub - Getting you through the ‘homeschooling headache’

Don't panic!

Tricky when you’ve got responsibilities, pressures, stressors flying at you from every which way.

So yes, ‘don’t panic’ isn’t something we’re hearing or feeling right now.

But, when it comes to homeschooling, we’re saying to parents, don’t panic. Easier said than done we know. Yet, you’re under enough pressure as it is, children are under enough academic pressure already, so just focus on spending time together.

Yes, let them do some school work but please, please, please do not lose focus on having fun. And let's not forget the importance of being active.

And this got us thinking. We work in schools. Both Aspire and our partners are in the education sector and experts in their fields. Many of our team members are former teachers. Many of them are parents.

What did we come up with?

The Aspire Activity Hub, a free, easy to use, online timetable full of activities and resources for your child to have fun whilst continuing their learning at home. And with plenty of physical activity where possible.

New activities and resources will be added every day, so make sure to keep coming back for the latest.

What’s this about a timetable?

When everything’s all out of sorts and up in the air, securing some sort of routine can help. So, with this in mind, the resources we share will be based around a daily timetable.

Obviously, we don’t assume strict adherence to the timetable. We know ourselves as parents each day could bring a new challenge meaning that day’s wake up activity is just not possible or anything else for that matter.

Think of the timetable itself as more of a guide, something to check in with when you don’t know what to do or what’s next.

The timetable is inspired by the daily schedule produced by Jessica McHale Photography. Ours is a bit different in that it’s modified to support physical activity and active learning at home.

For the health and well-being of our children, it’s so important that we’re still working towards government guidance of 60 minutes of moderate to vigorous physical activity per day. We know now more than ever it’s going to be tough, that’s why we’re here with Aspire Active Hub.

What resources are we talking?

A hub of reputable, reliable, innovative, trustworthy resources in line with the National Curriculum sits within each section of the timetable.

The resources offer activities that you and your child can do together or they can do independently, depending on schedules, responsibilities and stress levels.

We know all too well the pressure you’re under, the worries you face as not only are you looking after, caring for and raising your children, you’ve now got the added task of somehow having to ensure their learning continues away from school. We’re sure this wasn’t part of the deal.

But, as cliché as it might sound, we want to reassure you that you are not alone in this.

If we’re all going to have to muddle through, let’s muddle through together, virtually of course.

Stay safe and take care.
