Celebrations are taking place across the United Kingdom to mark the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee.

As the first British Monarch to celebrate seventy years of service, this is a significant moment in history!


So how can you and your children get involved to celebrate this momentous occasion?

Here’s a few ways to celebrate:


Birmingham Platinum Jubilee Celebration

Get ready for four days of festivities, an event for all the family to enjoy. The heart of Birmingham will be filled with live music, family games, a fun fair, entertainment, food, and lots more.

It’s also a chance to get together for The Platinum Party at the Palace which will be broadcast from Buckingham Palace!

Jubilee Makers and Shakers – Birmingham

A chance for children to explore 37 of the countries visited by Queen Elizabeth through art and music!

Children will spend the session creating pieces of artwork, poetry or handmade instruments inspired by each country.

Platinum Celebrations with Scoltock’s Workshop – Birmingham

Craft and woodland activities are taking place in Doe Bank Park for pre-school children and their siblings, including:

  • Red, white and blue bunting and flags
  • Red, white and blue plants and seeds planted in and around the park
  • Crown making
  • Timeline trail through the woodland areas
  • Water-colour murals
  • Gold coin hunt

The New Art Gallery Walsall Platinum Jubilee Family Day

There’s lots of fun to be had at The New Art Gallery Walsall.

A tea party is taking place, plus arts and crafts to get that creativity flowing, with activities including lolly-stick Queen’s guards, platinum paper crowns, and coin plaster casts. And that’s not all, the gallery would like your help decorating the building with red, white and blue wool, creating a Union Jack hand-print bunting and making a giant collaborative collage inspired by Hew Locke’s Jungle Queen II, in the Gallery’s Collection.

The Queen's Platinum Jubilee Beacon Trail - Lichfield

Take a tour around Lichfield as you follow the family story-trail.

Unique QR codes are located in venues across the city centre. Using a smart phone to scan the codes, discover cute characters that have come to life from Buckingham Palace and taken a trip to Lichfield. Be guided by Sir Barnaby Beacon and meet up with friends including Charlie Crown and Theadora Throne, choose how you want the story to go, take selfies with the characters and record videos with them!

Jubilee Party in the City - Coventry

Coventry city centre has lots in store to celebrate the Queen's Platinum Jubilee. Three stages of music, street performers, a children's art trail, and an arts and crafts marquee will fill the city of Coventry.

Warwick Market Square

Festivities are taking over Warwick’s market square on 2nd June. Live music through the decades, classic cars and a steam train are all set to be on show.

A Jubilee cake competition for Warwick schoolchildren is being run, with the winner announced at the Jubilee event.

A Wiggle of Corgis, Happy Happy Jubilee – Warwick

Count the corgis whilst wandering around Warwick!

The museum is inviting visitors to explore the royal cars in their collection throughout half term. Fabulous Fifties – Worcestershire County Museum at Hartlebury

Worcestershire County Museum at Hartlebury Castle are bringing back the 50s for a day to celebrate the decade of the Queen’s coronation.

Dress in your best 1950s fashion, enjoy live music from the period, and take part in lots of outdoor games.

The Captivating Costume exhibition brings you items and dresses from the 50s. Plus, you can explore Worcestershire in the 1950s by taking a tour of the Lavish Living exhibition, decorated to reflect the homes celebrating the Queen’s coronation in 1952.

For children, there’ll be coronation crafts to enjoy and a Family Trail around the castle.

Studley’s Jubilee Jamboree

For a ‘quintessentially English village fete’, visit Studley!

There will be a Jubilee Challenge Cup to watch, a WI competition you can enter by baking a cake or making an animal out of a vegetable, a dog show for your furry friends to take part in, an inflatable obstacle course, Morris Dancing, line dancing, live music, and loads more!

As the day turns to night, a ‘Royal Variety Show’ is taking place showcasing the best local talent alongside professionals!

Black Country Museum

Jubilee celebrations are happening throughout half term at the Black Country Museum. The museum is commemorating previous coronations and jubilees throughout history, from Queen Victoria’s Diamond Jubilee to Queen Elizabeth II’s Platinum Jubilee this year.
