What does PE look like in a COVID-19 world?

A new normal; a phrase you’ve no doubt heard.

And as lockdown begins to ease, we’re starting to see what that might mean.

That’s not to say we’re without questions, uncertainty, by no means.

With schools now re-opening, it’s a question of how they can adapt to keep pupils, teachers and staff safe.

PE, School Sports and Physical Activity (PESSPA) come with their own obstacles, navigating these is difficult, but absolutely essential.

We know that both physical and mental health and well-being have been impacted as a result of the pandemic, therefore, ensuring PESSPA is delivered safely and as effectively as possible needs to be a priority.

So, what does PE look like in a COVID-19 world?

In collaboration with our partners, Aspire have created a special one-off webinar to answer that very question.

Drawing together government guidance, afPE’s interpretation and expert insight from our friends at The PE Hub, the webinar offers a practical understanding which you can implement in your school right now.

What will be covered?

  • The responsibilities and actions schools must take
  • How to set out and run PE lessons safely and in accordance with all guidance
  • What you MUST do before and after PE lessons
  • How to work with external organisations supporting PE

Whether you’ve got a plan, are in the midst of making a plan or have no idea where to start, it’s worth signing up.

For a start, it’s free.

Plus, you get two free resources from Aspire and The PE Hub:

  • Safe PE Activity Examples
  • Safe PE Practice Checklist

Why is it all free? Perhaps it’s cliché, perhaps you’ve heard it a dozen times, but it still carries weight. Now more than ever we need to have each other’s backs, support one another. We want to offer what we can in the hope it helps; by being free we can reach as many as possible.

Who will lead the webinar?

With a combined 16 year’s experience in the primary school PESSPA sector, Dan Hays, Business Development Executive, and Jon Davies, Operations Manager, will lead the webinar.

In the last week alone, Jon and Dan have supported over 28 organisations across the country with understanding school requirements, implementing procedures and taking precautions.

So, you’re in good hands (virtually speaking).
